The problem with peroxide

The problem with peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is the most studied whitener, and it works. Its most common side effect is sensitivity: 1 in 2 people notice it with at-home treatments (Rezende, Journal of Dentistry, 2016).

That's why we work with PAP+ and colour correction: another way to improve your shade, designed for daily use.

Every product
answers 3 questions

Before launch, every formula has to answer three questions. If it fails one, it doesn't ship.

That's why every product:

  • Complies with EU cosmetics regulations
  • Respects over-the-counter peroxide limits
  • Explained by what it does and what it doesn't
  • Ships from our Madrid warehouse
  • Customer support in Spanish

Why Doesn't
Everyone Use
PAP+?

If PAP+ has fewer side effects than peroxide, why doesn't everyone use it?

01

It's Complex to Formulate

PAP is harder to stabilise than peroxide, especially in a water-based formula. Many brands take the easy route.

02

Peroxide is the standard

It's the most studied whitener and the one that whitens most in the clinic. PAP+ is gentler and has fewer studies: that's why in Purple V34 we pair it with a colour corrector you notice instantly.

We took the harder path because
it's the right one.

Does PAP+ whiten as much as peroxide?
Not in intensity: in published studies, peroxide whitens more. PAP+ works on surface stains with less sensitivity, and in Purple V34 it's paired with a colour corrector you notice from the first brush.
Why doesn't everyone use it?
Because it's harder to stabilise and more expensive to formulate than peroxide, which is also the long-standing standard.
Does it cause sensitivity?
Less common than with peroxide, but not zero: in one PAP study, 1 in 20 people noticed sensitivity after one use. If you feel discomfort, stop using it and see your dentist.
How long do results last?
The V34 corrector's effect is optical and temporary. What PAP+ does to the stain is maintained with daily use.
Where does your data come from?
From published studies, which we cite with their source. When there's no study on a specific product, we don't present it as if there were.
